Opinion: Adams taking a risk at Albion
Micky Adams is taking a risk in returning to manage Albion.
Not only is he putting his popularity among Seagulls fans in danger but also his reputation as a successful manager.
Adams started his second spell with the Seagulls last week after the surprise decision to replace Dean Wilkins.
He is hero-worshipped by Albion supporters because of what he achieved during his previous stint in the hot-seat. His place in Albion folklore is secure after the years of gloom that preceded his arrival.
But the fickle nature of football means those achievements will be forgotten if things do not go to plan this time around.
There are plenty of managers who have tried and failed to recreate glories of the past and tainted what they previously achieved.
Howard Kendall had two unsuccessful attempts to resurrect Everton during the 1990s after leading the Merseyside club to top flight title wins in 1985 and 1987.
Graham Taylor returned to both Watford and Aston Villa and got nowhere near to replicating what he achieved first time around.
More recently, Kevin Keegan decided on a second spell at Newcastle and is already feeling the pressure just four months into the job.
However, a few managers have bucked the trend. Harry Redknapp has transformed Portsmouth into a top eight Premiership side and FA Cup finalists, having previously led them to promotion into the big time before quitting to take over at Southampton.
You have to admire Adams for
having the courage to give it a second go.
He has had a few ups and downs since leaving Withdean following spells at Leicester and Coventry.
Let's hope he can recreate the excitment of his first spell in charge. If he does, Albion will be in the Championship and who knows what might happen then.

Success at this level will come more easily to MA than a lot of his illustrious predecessors. Its only when MA gets us to the premiership that his talent will be sorely tested !

I would say that his decision has little to do with courage and more to do with trying to re-establish himself as a football manager after disastrous spells at Leicester and Coventry, and a none too succesful spell as an assistant at Colchester.

Didn't take long for the Argus to sharpen the knives. Not a fan of Keegan but didn't he steer them away from relegation! As for Rednapp, was he ever out of Portsmouth employ? Afterall, all he did was have a years sabatical and got their nearest and dearest relegated! Surely theres a conspiracy story there!

We had a green Manager who was staring to do good things even after Knight's best attempts to lose him his squad.
What has Adams done since he left us? What do Leicester and Coventry fans think of Adams? - not a lot! How did Colchester get on with him involved? What did he "risk" in joining us? Without Bobby Zamora how would he have got on last time?
And, how long will it be before a struggling Premiership team need a reserve team coach - and he thinks that it is an opportunity he cannot overlook?
Why has Knight given him another chance to rebuild his career?

When I was a lad you wouldn't get any news about the Albion once the season was over. It's good to keep the club in the public eye, so give the lad a break, all publicity is good publicity.

Mickey has nothing to lose really........he is out of work after having a dodgy couple of years since leaving the Albion. Of course he is going to jump at an opportunity like this. Even if things don't work out like last time it is worth taking the chance on Mickey Adams

Where is the risk? He has taken on a job with a great history who are on the verge of the Championship, have funds to spend on players (Murray)and are about to move to a brand new stadium. If you ask me it's the best job in the league, he'd have been a fool NOT to accept.

Just about every opinion voiced in the comments section is disagreeing with the Argus viewpoint. Would it not be possible for the Argus to allow a dissenting viewpoint in un upcoming Argus?

Gosh, a lot of unfair comments about Micky. Je jad 4 job offers before coming to Brighton. He is a proven manager who has had always had to manage clubs with no money. He has a proven record of getting promotion, is respected in fottball and loved by most Albion fans. He is a man of integrity and drive and I am sure Albion will do really well under him. Maybe then you whingers will shut up!!!

Are you for real? He had a good Budget when he was last with us, and when he was at Leicester in the Championship, his Budget was reported to be the 17th highest in the whole League/Premiership? He maybe had a tight budget at Coventry because they have had to cut costs and sell players over recent years, but he failed anyway.
The guy is just a cockey little yourkshire terrier, who got lucky with a few players he took from club to club and Bobby Zamora. When he had to be a real Manager at Leicester and Coventry he could not hack it!

About to move to a brand new stadium ?? -Work is not due to commence until the autumn,now with the current credit squeeze which is casting doubt on the large Marina project it puts questions over Falmer
